How It All Works

ThE "How & WHY"


Our clients contract with us to find consumers in your local area like you, that want to share their opinion on topics of discussion in market research studies.  We are provided a set of questions or a script (called a screener) to ascertain your answers and to see if you are a person who may have information to share on a specific topic for their project. Remember to always be truthful and honest when answering the screening questions as these determine eligibility in the study. Every project has similarities, but every project is different and each requires different specifications to qualify for participation.  Some projects may be a focus group about a specific brand or company, while another may want to hear views from a specific group, like Millennial men on shopping habits for pets, for example.  


Study Projects are limited on the number of people that are able to attend at any given time and many projects require a cross-section of the population in regards to demographics, usually including age and gender mixes within a study. These are referred to as project quotas and they must be obtained in order to get a balanced mix of representation for the specific research study.  This is why, in order to participate, you must first join our database with the minimum requirements of: your Full Name, Contact Phone Number, Contact Email, your Date of Birth, Gender and your Zip Code.


First you have to opt-in by signing up to be included into our database.  (You can do that here by clicking the "Sign Up To Participate" button).  Once we are given the specifications from our client, we will contact you to ask the screening questions.  Always be honest and truthful when answering questions regarding the screening, as any discrepancy during the research study could disqualify you from participation and from getting paid.  We may ask these pre-qualifying questions over the phone or through an online survey.  If you pre-qualify via a phone call you will be scheduled for an appointment to attend the study on a specific date & time, if you are able.  If you pre-qualify online, an NMRR Representative will call, confirm your answers and schedule your appointment day & time, if you are able.  Not everyone who pre-qualifies will be scheduled to attend since seating is limited and quotas must be maintained.  


It is essential to keep your scheduled appointment so that we may fulfill our obligation to our client for their study.  If you are unable to attend, it is your responsibility to contact us as soon as possible and let us know.  If at any time during the process you wish to withdraw yourself, you may do so.  We do greatly appreciate as much advanced notice as possible should you do decide to withdraw yourself, this way we can still meet our obligations to the client conducting the research project.



By participating in our research studies, you can share your thoughts, opinions and viewpoints and let your voice be heard. You never know how your input and insights can impact future products, services, and other consumer goods we use everyday. 


Once you participate, you will receive compensation for your time and the sharing of your opinions during the research project.  This is usually given to you at the conclusion of your scheduled appointment.  If this is not the case, you would be informed prior to your scheduling and the payment process would be pre-arranged with you & explained by an NMRR Representative; for example, your payment is mailed to you after the study or payment is sent electronically to you.  Please never hesitate to ask us about your payment, after all that is one reason why you participate.

In a nutshell, we do not sell your personal information to any third parties.  We only provide first name and last initial to our clients for their specific research studies, they are not given additional information unless you provide permission for us to do so, such as an email or phone number for study related purposes only and this is always communicated with you prior to your scheduling in any research project and only and with your agreement to do so.

We will NEVER have any client attempt to sell you anything, if this type of engagement were ever to happen - you should refuse to provide any information and immediately leave the research and contact us.   

All participants will be compensated at agreed prices and the study will be stopped.

We adhere to the Market Research Association's Code of Marketing Research Standards which provides a strict line of ethics and standards of practice in the marketing industry.
